History

Mamsam Vepudu is a beloved dish in Andhra cuisine, known for its bold and spicy flavors. “Mamsam” translates to “mutton,” and “Vepudu” means “fry,” which perfectly describes this dish’s cooking method.

Historically, this dish was prepared in royal kitchens and village homes alike, using fresh mutton and locally sourced spices. The slow-cooking technique allows the meat to absorb the deep flavors of the spices, making it a traditional favorite.

Today, Mamsam Vepudu remains a popular dish across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, often enjoyed as a side with rice and dal or as a special delicacy during festive meals.
